Why I'm Running

Time to get
back in the ring.

"Most people I know are struggling with how to respond, to keep the faith with what we hold dear. For me, it's time to contribute and serve the best way I know how."

These are no ordinary times — for our nation, for our state, and for our communities. As a lifelong Democrat, I'm prepared to represent and be accountable to all of the District's residents, and to join the State House in its fight against the war on immigrants, on science, on climate, and on our democratic institutions.

I've been here before. After losing a Select Board race in 2019 by a few votes, I doubled down and won the following year — becoming only the third woman to serve on Canton's Select Board. I know how to fight, how to listen, and how to get things done.

Retired from all paid, private sector work, I'm prepared to devote myself full time to being the most effective, available, and responsive State Representative possible for Canton, Stoughton, and Avon.

The Issues That Matter

What I'll fight for
on Beacon Hill

01
Housing & Affordability
Seniors, veterans, young families — everyone deserves stability. As chair of both the Canton Housing Authority and the Affordable Housing Trust, I've been working this complex problem for years and know how much it matters.
02
Climate & Clean Energy
I championed Canton's municipal energy aggregation program (known as Canton Electrical Choice) to deliver cleaner, cheaper energy to residents. On Beacon Hill I'll push for policies that take our climate obligations seriously.
03
Civil Rights & Immigration
After President Trump's first election I became a pro bono immigration attorney because I believe in standing up for the most vulnerable. I'll bring that same conviction to the State House.
04
Democracy & Civic Access
I co-led Move the Vote, collecting over 2,000 signatures and running a successful ballot campaign to align local election timing and increase civic participation. Making democracy work better is personal to me.
"She has accomplished so much in moving Canton forward. For me, it's her instrumental role in getting the Community Preservation Act passed in 2012, and then turning the Plymouth Rubber site into the Paul Revere Heritage Site."
Trish Boyden
Vice Chair, Canton Select Board
"Her intelligence, expertise, analytical thinking and unwavering commitment will be significant assets to the entire 6th Norfolk district."
Susan Harrington
Member, Canton Select Board
"Lisa does not just talk about change. She creates it. She challenges people to contribute. She builds momentum. She follows through."

A neighbor.
A fighter.
A proven record.

I grew up the oldest of five in a middle-class New Jersey family. My father — born in the US to a Puerto Rican mother and Mexican father — and my mother were my role models for community service and love of country, even though I never shared their politics.

After law school I came to Massachusetts, raised my three children here, and never left. For nearly 25 years I was the only woman on the executive team at Haemonetics, helping build a global business that improved the lives of surgical and cancer patients. It was hard. It was thrilling. And it taught me that you get more done through persistence, collaboration, and showing up every single day.

That's the same approach I've brought to every role in this community — and the same approach I'll bring to Beacon Hill.
